Huge fire overnight at local veterinary service; barns destroyed

Early reports indicate no animals or people were injured or killed in the fire

Huge plumes of flame and smoke were visible for kilometres away after two barns at North Simcoe Veterinary Service went up in flames Thursday evening.

It's not known yet whether any animals were injured or killed in the fire, but a home and clinic building on the property are still standing.

But an employee posted on Facebook that everyone is OK.

"Awful, I work at the clinic luckily no animals or people were hurt," receptionist Susan Bodsworth noted.

The longtime veterinary service and animal hospital opened in 1983 and is located on Rumney Road in Tay Township.

It is led by husband and wife team Dr. Joel Rumney and Dr. Edie Haberfellner (Rumney), who have more than 50 year experience between them.
