The Canadian Press has declared Progressive Conservative incumbent Doug Downey the winner in a very tightly contested race in Barrie-Springwater-Oro-Medonte (BSOM).
With 65 of 67 polls reporting at 11:07 p.m., Elections Ontario showed Downey's lead over Liberal candidate Jeff Lehman was 582 votes.
Downey, a former Orillia city councillor who practises law in Orillia, had 15,950 votes (42.4 per cent) to Lehman's 15,368 (40.85 per cent).
The NDP's Beverley Patchell was in third place with 2,960 votes (7.87 per cent).
