NEWS RELEASE
MARIPOSA ARTS THEATRE
************************
One Life, starring Anthony Hopkins, Helena Bonham-Carter and Johnny Flynn, just released in theatres across Canada, will be screened in Orillia for one night only on Wednesday March 21 at Orillia Galaxy Cinemas at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. One Life is part of Mariposa Arts Theatre’s popular Film Nights series.

Based on a true story, One Life tells the incredible, emotional saga of Nicholas ‘Nicky’ Winton, a young London broker who visits Prague in December 1938.

In a race against time, Winton convinces members of the British Committee for Refugees in Czechoslovakia to rescue hundreds of predominantly Jewish children before Nazi occupation closes the borders. Fifty years later Nicky is haunted by the fate of the children he wasn’t able to bring to safety. It’s not until the BBC show That’s Life re-introduces him to some of those he helped rescue that he finally begins to come to terms with the guilt and grief he carried – all the while skyrocketing him from anonymity to national hero.

Critics have praised the outstanding cast of the film, as well as its powerful and moving story. “One Life tells a story that needed to be told and tells it impeccably.” (Mick LaSalle, San Francisco Chronicle)

Tickets for both screenings of One Life go on sale at the door from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. The box office for the evening show opens from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tickets cost $10 regular admission, $5 student admission, payable by credit, debit or cash.
