The region's health unit has confirmed 29 new cases of COVID-19 in Simcoe County today, including six cases in youth under 18 years old.
The new cases reported today include three Adjala-Tosorontio residents, seven Barrie residents, five Bradford West Gwillimbury residents, one Georgian Bay resident, four Innisfil residents, one Springwater resident, and eight New Tecumseth residents.
In Barrie, the seven new cases include two girls under 18. One case is linked to close contact and the other remains under investigation. There are also three Barrie men between 18 and 34 years old on the list of new cases, two are linked to close contact and one is under investigation. The final two Barrie cases have been linked to a congregate setting outbreak and they include a woman between 18 and 34 years old and a man over the age of 80.
In Bradford, the new cases reported today include a woman between 18 and 34 years old and four men between 45 and 64 years old. One case was reported as community-acquired, the others are still under investigation.
In Innisfil, the four cases include a boy under 18 years old, a man between 35 and 44 years old, and two men between 45 and 64 years old. Two cases are still under investigation, one is linked to close contact, and one is community-acquired.
In Springwater, the lone new case is a woman between 35 and 44 years old whose case is linked to an educational setting outbreak.
A second educational outbreak case was reported today by the health unit, this one a Georgian Bay Township boy under 18.
The three Adjala-Tosorontio cases reported today include a girl under 18, a man between 18 and 34 years old, and a woman between 35 and 44 years old. All three cases are still under investigation.
Finally, in New Tecumseth, the eight new cases include a girl under 18, two women and a man between 18 and 34 years old, a woman and a man between 35 and 44 years old, and two women between 45 and 64 years old. All eight cases are still under investigation.
The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported a total of 1,938 cases of COVID-19, with 1,848 of those in Simcoe County. There are 1,659 cases listed as recovered in the region. Fifteen people are currently hospitalized, all are Simcoe County residents. The health unit has confirmed 52 deaths since March.
The incidence rate for Simcoe County is 350 cases per 100,000 people.
