The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has confirmed 19 new cases of COVID-19 in Simcoe County today, including three boys under 18.
The three youth cases reported today include a boy from Innisfil, from Barrie, and from Tay Township. The Innisfil boy's case is linked to close contact and the other two cases are under investigation.
There are three other cases from Barrie today, including a man between 18 and 34 years old, and a man and a woman between 45 and 64 years old, both of whom have transmission linked to close contact.
There is one additional case from Innisfil and Tay Township as well. The Innisfil case is a woman between 18 and 34 years old and the Tay case is a woman between 35 and 44 years old. Both cases remain under investigation.
The health unit has confirmed six more cases related to outbreaks at long-term care homes. There are five cases, all are female between 45 and 64 years old, from New Tecumseth, and one woman in the same age group from Bradford West-Gwillimbury.
There is an active outbreak at Simcoe Manor in Beeton, where Simcoe County reported there have been 26 residents and seven staff test positive for the coronavirus. Three residents who tested positive have died. The health unit has confirmed the most recent two deaths today, bringing the total number of COVID-related deaths in Simcoe-Muskoka region to 41.
There is one other Bradford case, a man between 18 and 34 whose transmission is under investigation.
Today's health unit report includes a new case in Midland, the first since July 24. The latest case is a man between 18 and 34 years old.
The remaining three cases include a woman between 35 and 44 years old from Penetanguishene and two women from Essa between 45 and 64 years old. All three cases are under investigation.
The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported a total of 1,010 cases of COVID-19. There are now 864 cases listed as recovered. There are 100 active cases in the region, and two people are currently hospitalized – one from Orillia and one from Innisfil. The health unit has recorded 41 deaths.
