An actor whose career has been stalled as he languishes behind bars made an appearance in a Barrie courtroom Monday relating to a holiday long weekend incident in Wasaga Beach two years ago.

Balford Gordon, 39, who, according to court documents, is from Niagara Falls but also lists Toronto as his hometown, had pre-trial motions before Superior Court Justice Howard Leibovich on a slate of weapons and breach of release charges.

According to provincial police at the time of his arrest, Huronia West OPP officers were called to the scene in Wasaga Beach on River Road West on May 22, 2023, just as the holiday long weekend was winding down in the resort town.

When they arrived, police said officers found a man who was asleep behind the wheel of his vehicle.

Upon further inspection of the vehicle, police said they found a loaded firearm.

A publication ban covering evidence presented in pre-trial proceedings is in effect.

Gordon is slated for trial on the weapons and breach charges next month in Superior Court in Barrie.

He is currently serving a five-year sentence after being convicted of earlier unrelated charges, including assault causing bodily harm.

Gordon’s list of acting credits stretch over almost two decades and include Get Rich or Die Tryin’, Casino Jack, Saving God and Jupiter’s Legacy.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Gordon is a card-carrying member of ACTRA (the Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists) and that he has worked in Toronto, Vancouver, Miami and Los Angeles.
