There have been several letters over the summer and fall in OrilliaMatters about the widespread citizen opposition to a new quarry in our region, and the many good reasons for this opposition.

Simcoe County is already over-represented with quarries, according to the Auditor General’s report. Our area has 40 quarries! I won’t reiterate the health and environmental reasons to stop this latest quarry from digging up more of our land and endangering our watershed.

This letter asks, where is our MPP in this? Does Simcoe North MPP Jill Dunlop care about her riding and the welfare of her constituents? She has not responded to requests to meet and discuss this issue.

The Conservative MPP from Milton stood up and stopped a quarry in his riding. Can we expect Dunlop to speak up for us? The Ford Conservatives ask for our support in election times; we ask for Dunlop’s support now.
