Displacing people already displaced with nowhere to call home is another illustration of how little leaders like Doug Ford honestly care about homelessness. For a concert? Leave them alone. They are suffering enough already. As is Pierre Poilivere simply closing safe injection sites before a solution is in place. Hide the problem, not deal with it.
Decades of pro-big business politics and improper implementation of free trade have put far too many decent people on the street. Canadians cannot compete with overseas sweat shop wages and we should not have to.
Why, when businesses like Apple build their products in countries with such low wages, are they permitted to charge exorbitant prices far above their actual cost? Wage controls have been implemented regularly. Why not price controls? This is the reason for the ever-widening gap between prices and wages. Those we elect are supposed to prevent this type of exploitation. Instead, they encourage it.
It is time those responsible be held accountable for the damage they have caused to our economy, for all the human beings they continue to hurt. That would be our elected officials who continue to turn a blind eye. Absolutely pathetic leadership.
