Recently, while out in my neighbourhood with family, we came face to face with the so-called dangerous coyote terrorizing the south ward.

This coyote was more interested in getting back to the forest than anything else. He/she timidly dodged people on the street and tried to find a way back away from all the people and chaos.

Eventually, the coyote made it and we saw it walking calmly and relaxed once it knew it was safe. We breathed a sigh of relief for it.

I am less afraid of coyotes today than I was yesterday. It was not aggressive and simply wanted to get where it was going. Home.

That said, they need to eat, so maybe keep your small pets inside and dogs on a leash and nobody needs to lose sleep over this beauty whose home we invaded. Leave the authorities out of it and stop criminalizing the existence of life. We live in nature. We are part of nature. Let’s be considerate of our neighbour.
