NEWS RELEASE
BRIGHTER DAYS
************************
The holiday season is set to get a lot brighter with an evening of music, laughter and community spirit.
It’s the third annual “Brighter Days: A Night of Ho-Ho-Hope.”
It will take place on Saturday evening, Dec. 7 at the Orillia Legion, on Mississaga Street East near Front Street. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.
Initiated in 2020 by Ralston Harris and long-time friend, Ian McRae, the “Night of Hope” was conceived as a way to give back to the community at a time of year when many struggle with personal issues.
Harris, originally from Orillia and now a Vancouver-based screen and stage actor, will fly from the West Coast to co-host the evening with McRae.
The event will feature musical performances by a wide range of local talent. Included are singer and songwriter Alex Kaye Black, guitarist Anthony Mignella, rapper Nate Br!gante, Nathalie Marshall, and more! There will also be heartfelt poetry readings by Josh Poitrus and Sarah Simcoe.
In addition to the music and poetry performances, the event will showcase the work of local artist Mark Logan.
The $20 entry ticket includes free pizza and a cash bar. All net proceeds go to the Sharing Place Food Centre in Orillia.
Since tickets are limited, Harris and McRae encourage the purchase of tickets online in advance, through eTransfer to [email protected]. A limited number of tickets will be held for sale at the door.
Quotes
“In the past, Brighter Days has hosted two successful ‘Night of Ho-Ho-Hope’ events. Both sold out! The previous events have helped to raise thousand dollars for the Sharing Place Food Centre. This speaks to the community’s desire for heartwarming gatherings like this one. We’re planning to make this year’s
event the biggest and brightest yet!”
Ralston Harris, Co-founder
“The Night of Hope is a powerful reminder of the generosity and compassion that exist in our community. The funds raised through this event will directly help The Sharing Place address critical food security needs, especially as we head into the colder months. Events like this not only raise spirits but ensure we can continue offering the support so many individuals and families rely on.”
Kelly Allen, Development Manager, The Sharing Place Food Centre
