Casino Rama has been a long-time supporter of The Sharing Place Food Centre.
"This is an important cause to Casino Rama Resort and its employees," said Amanda Lucas of Gateway Casinos and Entertainment, the company that operates the casino east of Orillia.
Lucas said food bank officials recently "informed us that they have seen a 30 per cent increase in visits this year and 70 per cent increase in first-time visits to its facility at 95 Dufferin St.
The casino and staff stepped up, she noted, explaining more than $2,300 was raised by employees through a Jeans Day fundraiser. In addition, 242 pounds of food was collected to benefit the food bank.
Casino Rama Resort also donated an additional $2,500 to the "important cause," Lucas said.
