Celebrate the life and legacy of Canadian music legend Gordon Lightfoot at a special birthday event on Sunday, Nov. 17, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Brewery Bay Food Company (117 Mississaga St. E., Orillia).

The gathering promises an afternoon of music, community, and celebration of Lightfoot’s lasting impact on both Orillia and the world of music.

Greetings from Mayor Don McIsaac

The event will kick off with special greetings from Orillia Mayor Don McIsaac, who will address the crowd on behalf of the City of Orillia, highlighting the significance of Gordon Lightfoot’s contributions to the city and his enduring influence in the music world.

Music and cake

Attendees will enjoy live music by Steve Porter, a local talent whose performance will set the tone for an afternoon of celebration. In keeping with the spirit of the occasion, Mariposa Market will provide a birthday cake adorned with an image of Lightfoot, in keeping with the tradition of commemorating the artist’s storied career.

A look ahead to 2025

Event organizers the Lightfoot Festival board will reflect on the success of this year’s celebrations and share exciting news about the upcoming Gordon Lightfoot Festival in 2025. Among the highlights for next year: discussions about Gordon Lightfoot’s original band returning, as well as other plans that are currently in the works.
