Boston's Lenny Lashley lands in Orillia for youth centre fundraiser

Proceeds support youth programming, as well as Nelson Bell and Jake Beers funds; there will be another show this afternoon at the youth centre

Boston musician Lenny Lashley made the trek to Orillia this week to perform a pair of shows while also raising money for the local youth centre.

Lashley played Thursday night in a small, intimate setting at Creative Nomad Studios on Mississaga Street West, accompanied by Timmy Kehoe on pedal steel for almost the entire hour-long set. Also on the bill were Barrie's Rebekah Hawker and Nixon Boyd, who's also of Hollerado.

And they will do it all over again this afternoon.

Many of the songs Lashley played were from his previous country/rock/folk band, Lenny and the Piss Poor Boys, dating back to 2005.

As a solo artist, his Lenny Lashley's Gang of One has also released three albums, including Illuminator (2013), All Are Welcome (2019) and Five Great Egrets (2022). He says he has always been working on new material for an upcoming album. Lashley has also fronted another band called Darkbuster and worked with the punk band The Street Dogs.

There will be another show later today to kick off the Thanksgiving long weekend. This performance will take place at the Orillia Youth Centre, located at 9 Front St. S., from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Proceeds from the two shows will help support youth programming, as well as the Nelson Bell and Jake Beers funds.
