Nominations are now open for the second annual Community Builders Awards, an event that celebrates the individuals and organizations making Orillia a better place for all.
The awards recognize exceptional achievements in the categories of Arts, Economic Development, Education, Environment, Hall of Fame, Health Care, Legacy, Sports and Recreation, Young Leader and Unsung Hero.
Open to all residents, businesses and organizations in Orillia and Lake Country, the Community Builders Awards serve as a platform to spotlight those who often work tirelessly behind the scenes, fostering positive change within the community.
Dr. Jeff Pitcher, the recipient of last year’s Health Care Award, shared his perspective, stating, "Behind the scenes, doctors are working really hard, they’re on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week, helping those in our community... I think this award recognizes those sacrifices."
Beyond the honour of receiving an award, the Community Builders Awards offer a unique opportunity for winners to inspire others by showcasing their impactful work, encouraging active community engagement.
Mark Watson, co-owner of Pocket Skate & Vintage and the 2023 Sports and Recreation Award recipient, expressed his joy, saying, “This Award is incredible! To be nominated by people in our community as being community builders means so much.”
The 10 winners will be presented with an award at an intimate ceremony and featured in an article on OrilliaMatters, providing them with well-deserved recognition.
If you know a business, charity or individual making a significant impact on the local community, nominate them for an award today at orilliamatters.com/cbawards. Nominations are open until March 8, 2024.
Join us in honouring those who go above and beyond to build our community in Orillia and Lake Country.
