For many years, Green Haven Shelter for Women and Liz Westcott have been synonymous with sheltering and actively supporting adult women, with or without dependent children, who have been subjected to violence and abuse in their intimate relationships.

Westcott, who celebrated her 29th anniversary as Executive Director at Greenhaven in March of 2020, will speak to and provide a valuable learning experience for the members of CFUW Orillia at their monthly online meeting on Nov. 24.

Westcott came to Green Haven with 15 years of experience in a variety of settings, providing support, advocacy, training, and personal care for children, teens, adults and their families who were living with physical, developmental, and mental health challenges. Green Haven opened its doors in October, 1991, and since then has served the city of Orillia and surrounding areas.

Westcott proudly states that she has been in the same stable relationship for more than 40 years and has two grown daughters who “feed my spirit and provide the incentive to continue to promote equality for all, personal safety and the right for women and their children to live with dignity in a community of mutual respect free from violence and abuse.”

CFUW Orillia is honoured to have Westcott as their speaker, a woman who has lived by and promoted the same core values and goals as those of CFUW.
