Choice Hotels Canada announced the national winners of the prestigious APEX Awards (Awards for Property Excellence) at the 2018 Choice Hotels Canada Fall Conference in Niagara Falls, Ontario. The Champlain Waterfront Hotel was awarded the national award for Best New Entry: Ascend Hotel Collection.
The award recognizes The Champlain Waterfront Hotel, which is a member hotel of the Ascend Collection. It is located in an historic building in the heart of downtown Orillia and is owned by multi-unit franchisee, Ray Gupta.
This property was a labour of love that required a stunning renovation to overhaul the building to give it contemporary updates while maintaining its original character.
Twelve top performing properties across the country were awarded national APEX Awards, which recognize stellar performance, ongoing commitment to guest service and community leadership.
“Winning a national APEX Award is no easy feat but what Ray and his team have accomplished with The Champlain Waterfront Hotel is nothing short of spectacular,” says Brian Leon, president of Choice Hotels Canada. “It has been a welcome addition to the community and we are honoured to have this hotel join our Ascend Collection.”
The hotel has served thousands of guests from all over the world since the doors opened in July of 2017. The hotel supports the local chapter of Habitat for Humanity as well as Choice Hotels Canada’s annual campaign, Book to Build.
