NEWS RELEASE

The Orillia Public Library has wrapped up another successful summer of fun, engaging programming.

Our programs welcomed 1,772 participants over six weeks, who had a blast creating castles, bridges, murals, fossils, fairy houses, and tons of memories.

We also registered 691 kids and teens for the TD Summer Reading Club. They stopped by the library a remarkable 1,717 times to report on their summer reads with our staff. Each time a reader reported, their name was added to our window display — collaboratively creating a magical scene that grew more elaborate each week.

When we did our final tally, our reading club members had finished a whopping 4,300 books this summer. Way to go!

Readers celebrated the end of the TD Summer Reading Club with a Story Walk featuring Sometimes I Feel Like a Fox by our 2022 Big Read author, Danielle Daniel.

The library and its readers would like to extend their thanks to Rotary Club of Orillia for their generous donation towards the purchase of Summer Reading Club prizes.

Thanks for a great summer.
