NEWS RELEASE
CITY OF ORILLIA
*************************
The City of Orillia would like to remind residents of the many ways to stay informed, engaged, and connected with the city throughout 2025.
“I encourage every resident to take an active role in staying informed and engaged with the City of Orillia,” said Mayor Don McIsaac. “Decisions made by council impact citizens daily. By staying up to date, engaged, and participating in council meetings, public forums, and discussions, you can help shape our community.”
Council meetings and the CivicWeb Portal
Regularly scheduled meetings of Orillia city council take place twice each month except for February, July, August, and December, which will have one meeting, and begin at 2 p.m., subject to inclusion of public planning meetings or other special council matters.
Regular meetings will take place in the council chamber at the Orillia City Centre, 50 Andrew St. S., and may be streamed online on the city’s YouTube channel.
Meeting agendas are available online on the Orillia CivicWeb Portal at orillia.civicweb.net/portal on the Friday prior to the council meeting date. The Orillia CivicWeb Portal is an online, user-friendly hub that allows users to easily navigate and stay up to date on council and committee information, including the following:
- Access upcoming and past meetings with agendas and minutes, as well as bylaws and policies.
- View timestamped video feeds from council, committee and public planning meetings.
- Review the weekly council information package.
- Inspect the declarations of interest registries for council, boards and committees.
- Locate contact information for members of council.
- Search for specific references and keywords included in any of the documents uploaded to the system.
- Subscribe to receive email updates.
Communicating with council
There are several ways to communicate with council as a whole or with individual members. Residents or organizations who would like to appear before council for a deputation can make a request to the council services division by visiting orillia.ca/CouncilMeetings. Members of the public can also request to speak during the open public forum portions of the council meeting regarding a matter listed on the council agenda or a matter within the city’s municipal jurisdiction by pre-registering with the council services division up to four hours prior to the meeting start time. To register, interested parties are required to complete and submit the open public forum request form available on the city’s website at orillia.ca/CouncilMeetings.
All written correspondence to be considered for placement on a council agenda should be addressed to “mayor and members of council” and can be dropped off or mailed to the Orillia City Centre (50 Andrew St. S.) or emailed to [email protected].
Residents can also contact their ward councillors or the office of the mayor via email or telephone directly. For more details on how to communicate with council, visit orillia.ca/council.
