NEWS RELEASE
CITY OF ORILLIA
*************************
The City of Orillia is extending the seasonal closure of a portion of Harvie Settlement Road between University Avenue and the drive lane at 695 Harvie Settlement Rd. until April 14, 2025, due to road conditions.
“The safety of residents and motorists remains our top priority,” said Mayor Don McIsaac. “City crews are working diligently to improve road conditions, but given the volume of ice and the ongoing repairs required, we ask for the public’s patience as we complete the necessary work to ensure a safe reopening.”
Originally scheduled to reopen on March 15, 2025, the area (see attached map) will remain closed as staff continue to address significant ice buildup, reduce snowbanks, and fill potholes created due to the extreme conditions and freeze-thaw that has occurred over the winter months.
Residents and businesses on Harvie Settlement Road will continue to have full access via Diana Drive during this extended closure period.
