The City of Orillia’s Innovation Collective is excited to host a cybersecurity workshop in partnership with Orillia Area Community Development Corporation and local cybersecurity firm White Tuque on Oct. 10, 2023, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the Orillia Public Library (36 Mississaga St. W.).
The workshop is designed to empower local business owners to safeguard their companies from digital threats. Admission is free, but registration is required at orillia.ca/innovation.
“This event, hosted by the city’s Innovation Collective and partners, serves as a unique opportunity for the local business community to come together and gain valuable insights into identifying and mitigating cybersecurity risks,” said Mayor Don McIsaac.
The workshop will bring together the local business community with cybersecurity experts to collectively address the risks posed by cybercrime and explore potential solutions. During the workshop, participants will be supported in identifying their critical business assets, spotting the cyber threats that they are exposed to, and identifying potential solutions.
“Our area boasts a thriving group of information security professionals, yet their expertise often goes unnoticed,” said Joco Amante, Innovation Collective manager. “We are very pleased to have White Tuque, a company rooted in Simcoe County, share crucial insights to help local business owners safeguard their companies.”
The Innovation Collective, managed by the city’s business development, tourism and modernization division and supported by an Innovation Collective operating committee, aims to streamline processes and support to make it easier and more accessible for local and regional entrepreneurs to participate in and grow their business through the innovation economy.
