NEWS RELEASE
DOWNTOWN ORILLIA
*************************
Downtown Orillia will host car enthusiasts from all over Ontario and beyond for the 20th Annual Downtown Orillia Classic Car Show on Saturday, Aug. 18. The downtown core is expected to be filled with over 450 classic cars and be visited by over 25,000 admirers.
"Even in its 20th year, our car show just keeps getting bigger and better as time goes by," said Lisa Thomson-Roop, manager of the Downtown Orillia Management Board. "We are expecting a lot of beautiful vehicles, great classics from the 40s and 50s, serious muscle from the 60s and 70s, even some dating from all the way back to 1905."
Downtown Orillia has proven to be the best location for the car show of this size in years past.
"We are very lucky to be perfectly placed just steps up from the waterfront, and, of course, we are so accessible from all over the city. Mississaga Street is perfect, we love standing at the top of it seeing the cars line the entire street."
Once again this year Classic Show Car owners will have the chance to win a Long Block Engine Rebuild courtesy of Parry Automotive in Orillia. A win that has proved to be serendipitous in the past according to Thomson-Roop.
“2016 winner, Carmine Piciuto blew his engine on his way home from the Car Show two years ago and was ecstatic when Parry Automotive owner Steve VanKessel called him on the following Monday with the news he had won the engine rebuild.”
In addition to the car show itself, there will again be great live entertainment happening throughout the day, with some local talent, too.
"Orillia is full of very strong artists and performers and we are excited to showcase them at one of the biggest events in Downtown Orillia," said Thomson-Roop.
A 20th anniversary cake celebration is set for 3 p.m. and the trophy ceremony is begins at 4pm on the main stage located in front of Becker Shoes at 33 Mississaga Street East.
We’d like to thank all of our sponsors once again this year. A show of this magnitude just would not be possible without them.
