Isobel Hill is an inspirational leader in the soccer community of Orillia.
Starting from the grassroots level of coaching, her passion for soccer and love for nurturing young talents has led to her investing more than 30 years into volunteering and working as a board member of the Orillia Minor Soccer League, Huronia District Soccer Association and the Orillia Sports Council.
Her mission has always been to ensure that all children involved in soccer were supported and encouraged on the field. Her work and approach to inclusion made her a valued member of any organization she was a part of.
“It’s a sport that I have always enjoyed,” Isobel said. “It runs in your family when you come from the United Kingdom and that has continued over here. I've been lucky that both of my boys got into the game. That's the main reason why I got involved in coaching.”
Isobel was beyond grateful when she heard the news of her Community Builders Award.
“I’m shocked and delighted that people have thought I was deserving of this award. I want to thank my nominators for thinking that the work that I do is important,” she said.
Isobel’s dedication truly inspires young people to be the best that they can be on and off the field.
The Sports and Recreation Award is presented to an individual or group who has contributed to the strength of a sport in the community, by way of inspiring people, establishing a program, mentoring a team or individual to extraordinary accomplishments or setting an example for others to carry.
Congratulations, Isobel!
This award is proudly sponsored by Team Micks.
