NEWS RELEASE
CONNEXUS CHURCH
*************************
Free event for the community? No strings attached? Really?
On Sunday, June 12, Connexus Church held a community event for the West Ridge neighbourhood in Orillia. Their hope was to connect neighbours who had recently moved to the area, or to reconnect those who hadn’t had much opportunity during the pandemic.
Though the rain prevented the planned big party with inflatables and food trucks, Connexus was able to host a drive-thru event with free coffee, delicious treats from Jay’s Sticky Buns in Barrie, and balloon animals for the kids. They gave away tickets for a family to go to Ripley’s Aquarium (along with a gas card to get down to Toronto), a movie gift basket with tickets and treats for the family, and a Starbucks gift basket with coffee and goodies.
About 25 new families came by, and they really appreciated that a church would do something for them, completely free, simply because they wanted to say hi and meet them.
This family fun event, although different from the original plan, was a great morning spent meeting new friends and showing the community that Connexus is a church that is there for them (rain or shine).
Connexus Church meets on Sunday mornings at 9 and 10:30 a.m. at the Galaxy Cinemas Orillia (865 West Ridge Blvd.) or on YouTube.
