The Honourable Maryam Monsef, Minister of International Development and Minister for Women and Gender Equality, announced the latest recipients of multi-year, capacity-building grants today and Orillia's Couchiching Jubilee House is one of the successful agencies.

Orillia's Couchiching Jubilee House is being awarded $228,190 in funding over five years.

“The services Couchiching Jubilee House provides to women and children is in demand, yet funding is becoming more and more constrained,” said Development Coordinator Courtney Willis. “So it’s imperative that we strengthen and diversify our funding streams.

"The support from Status of Women will help us ensure that over the next five years we position the organization to remain financially stable and continue to elevate women in our community," said Willis.

Some of the goals the funding will support include technology upgrades, building a monthly donor recruitment strategy and developing an annual planned giving forum.

“This is a huge win for the organization,” said Olivia Neal, the director of the board for Couchiching Jubilee House.

More than 250 projects from women’s and Indigenous organizations across Canada will receive funding from Status of Women to ensure they can continue providing essential supports to women and their families.

The goal of Couchiching Jubilee House is empowering women to improve their quality of life through a program of individualized support and transitional housing.
