Orillia's Anti-Aging Clinic has been named Ontario's Botox Clinic of the Year by Corporate Vision magazine.
Blade and Ben Tiessen, who have owned the clinic in Orillia for 25 years, say winning the award is an honour.
"We were thrilled," Ben said.
"When you think of all of Ontario, you don't really expect a little clinic from Orillia winning," Blade added.
While Orillia's Anti-Aging Clinic has been crowned the best, Blade and Ben remain modest.
"We don't believe in saying anybody is the best," Blade said. "I think everybody has a uniqueness about them and offers something different."
He says winning the award proves his clinic is in the industry's top tier.
"This is definitely a feather in our cap," Ben said. "It's nice to be recognized, especially when you are still at the top of your game after being in the industry as long as we have."
Blade and Ben credit the award to Dr. Rodney Land, who has been providing Botox services out of the Orillia clinic for seven years.
"He's very passionate about it," Ben said. "He loves building a patient."
The only vegan anti-aging clinic in the province serves thousands in downtown Orillia from all over the world. The clinic has the kind of technology used by celebrities including Martha Stewart.
"We have a clientele from New York," Blade explained. "People are travelling in."
Blade, who specializes in micro-needling and injury-based devices, has worked with Conrad Murray, Michael Jackson's doctor, and trained doctors who have worked with Hollywood celebrities including the Kardashians.
"You are only as good as your last client," Ben said. "It doesn't matter who you are or what you've done; you get the same treatment."
Blade says his work speaks for itself, which is why the business remains busy even though it's located outside of a major market.
"Everything I'm doing is aging and skin based," he said. "I'm very streamlined to what I do, and because of that I've gotten quite a reputation and people come from all over."
Blade and Ben, a married couple, grew up in Midland, where Blade’s parents owned a marina, which is why they live and operate their business in nearby Orillia.
"We refuse to move from Orillia," Ben said. "Orillia is the perfect place for us."
Ben says he's proud Ontario's Botox Clinic of the Year is in Orillia.
"That's very much a feather in the cap for Orillia, too," he said. "We love the community."
Blade and Ben don't plan on retiring from the business any time soon. They are more passionate about it now than ever.
"If we ever did retire, there would be pick-up trucks of women chasing us," Blade said with a laugh.
"I don't think we'll ever retire. I really don't," Ben added.
