NEWS RELEASE
DOWNTOWN ORILLIA
*************************
Tune into Downtown Orillia’s Facebook page at 7 p.m. on Nov. 13 for a festive holiday event that will ignite your holiday spirit.
While we cannot gather in person to kick-off the season, we invite you to join our Facebook Livestream event to ring in the Christmas season, featuring holiday music pre-recorded by the Orillia Silver Band, beautiful shots of the downtown lights, and a virtual lighting of the Christmas tree. Bask in the lighting of over 80 thousand twinkling lights, 50 warm light spheres, and 50 hanging baskets lining the streets of Historic Downtown Orillia.
This livestreamed event is being held in partnership with the City of Orillia and Downtown Orillia and proudly sponsored by Orillia Power Generation.
“We’d like to thank Orillia Power Generation once again for their generous sponsorship of the holiday lighting as well as the City of Orillia, Orillia Opera House and Orillia Public Library who without their help the event and lighting would not be possible,” noted Manager of Downtown Orillia, Lisa Thomson-Roop.
Take in the twinkling lights during Christmas Shopping Nights that will be running every Friday in Downtown Orillia from Nov. 13 up until and including Dec. 18. Shop, Dine and Connect on the main streets of Downtown Orillia while you find the perfect Christmas gifts!
Prepare for a safe and fruitful, Black Friday on Nov. 27. Book your time on Thursday, Nov. 26 to pick up your 50 per cent off 50-dollar Downtown Dollar gift certificates that you can use to shop the outrageous Black Friday deals at downtown shops and restaurants. One per customer, while supplies last.
To get into the holiday spirit, kids can join Santa live online from Mrs. Claus’ kitchen to listen to stories and bake cookies together on Thursday nights in December.
The recipe will be provided beforehand so kids can bake along with their family. This online event will be running on Thursday, Dec. 3, 10, and 17 at 6:30 p.m., and families can choose which night works best for their schedule.
