Severn Township firefighters were called to extinguish a house fire Sunday night on Telford Line.

Firefighters from the Township of Severn Fire & Emergency Services responded to a home engulfed in flames at 2871 Telford Line at 7:50 p.m. Sunday evening.

“When crews first arrived on scene they noticed flames visible from the back part of the house," said Tim Cranney, the director of fire and emergency services for the Township of Severn.

Approximately 25 firefighters were on the scene to battle the blaze, and two firefighters were transported to Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital for observation after suffering minor injuries.

“They have since been released from the hospital and are recovering at home,” Cranney said.

The residents living in the home were able to escape and they were not injured.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but Cranney said it does not appear to be suspicious.

The fire caused about $500,000 in damages to the home and cannot be lived in due to the damage sustained, said Cranney.
