Fire causes estimated $500K in damage to Ramara home

No one was injured in Saturday fire; family still looking for missing cat

Officials are investigating a fire that occurred on the weekend at a home in Ramara Township.

Ramara and Rama firefighters responded just after 4 p.m. Saturday to the report of a fire at 7315 Davy Dr.

“At the time of the fire, the homeowner discovered the fire and was able to get out of the home,” Ramara Fire Chief Tony Stong said, adding 32 firefighters were on scene. “At this time, the cause of the fire is under investigation but is not considered a suspicious fire.”

There were no injuries, but the fire caused an estimated $500,000 in damage.

“With the changing of the clocks, Ramara Fire would like to remind everyone to test their smoke alarms and change their batteries,” Stong added.

A GoFundMe page has been created to assist the family. As of Monday afternoon, it had raised almost $22,000.

It is noted on the page that the family cat is still missing. Monty has grey fur and green eyes and weighs about eight pounds. He is neutered and does not have his front claws.
