The Orillia community became a warmer place thanks to $194,200.00 in grants from the Community Foundation of Orillia and Area.
Chair Michael Gordon paid tribute to the late Scott Tudhope, whose donor-directed fund granted $110,000 to a total of 11 local organizations.
In total, 36 grants were awarded from a wide variety of designated and donor-directed funds.
Unlike the Foundation’s annual spring and fall grants, these grants do not require applications and are awarded at the direction of the fund holders.

- Orillia Physician Recruitment Committee - $2,000
- Couchiching Conservancy - $5,500
- North Simcoe Victim Crisis Services - $1,250
- Red Cross Orillia - $400
- Salvation Army Orillia - $13,600
- Orillia Vocal Ensemble - $500
- Orillia Museum of Art and History - $500
- Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orillia and District - $4,500
- St. Paul’s United Church - $6,500
- The Sharing Place Food Centre - $6,500
- Orillia Fish and Game Conservation Club - $3,000
- Orillia St. Andrews Presbyterian Church - $26,400
- The Orillia Christian Centre ( Lighthouse ) - $5,500
- Couchiching Jubilee House - $5,500
- Green Haven Shelter for Women - $5,500
- St. Vincent de Paul Society - $5,500
- Georgian College Orillia - $5,500
- Lakehead University Orillia - $5,500
- Orillia SPCA - $9,000
An additional $51,150 was granted anonymously from three donor-directed funds
