Current details:
Freezing rain is expected.

Hazard:
Freezing rain leading to ice build-up of 2 to 4 mm on some surfaces.

Timing:
Monday morning and early afternoon.

Discussion:
A low pressure system is approaching southern Ontario and will bring a mixture of precipitation to the area. Precipitation is expected to begin as freezing rain Monday morning and continue into the afternoon. The freezing rain is expected to transition to rain or drizzle as temperatures rise above the freezing mark.

There is a potential for freezing drizzle through Monday evening as temperatures are expected to remain near the freezing mark, particularly over higher terrain.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Utility outages may occur.

Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas.

Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.
