Frigid temperature can't deter hikers from Copeland Forest trek

The icy trails made for an interesting, chilly hike that was broken up by an enjoyable picnic lunch enjoyed while resting on a freshly fallen tree

Earlier this week, members of both the Barrie and Orillia chapters of the Ganaraska Hiking Club enjoyed a cold hike in the Copeland Forest.

Conditions were perfect for wearing crampons thanks to the three to four inches of fresh snow that had fallen, covering the icy trails.

The group enjoyed a picnic lunch on one of the many fallen trees in the area - a perfect, makeshift picnic table.

The winter season begins with scheduled hikes that require hikers to come prepared with crampons, snowshoes, or just plain boots as the weather switches from freeze to thaw, with or without snow, noted organizers.

The club welcomes new members. For further information visit the club's website: www.ganaraska-hiking-trail.org.
