From a private island to a property with its own walking trails, the Highway 11 corridor in Northern Ontario has a number of unique properties for sale right now.
Current listings showcase the region’s mix of properties for buyers looking for a business investment, a unique living space, or affordable land.
In Cochrane, a property listed for $549,900 includes over 60 acres of land, its own private walking trails, and a hobby farm. Located on the outskirts of town, this property has been on the market for 92 days, with annual property taxes of $3,366.
An island on Sesekinika Lake is also on the market. The 0.7-acre island is located in an unorganized township in Timiskaming District and listed for $99,000. It features a rock lookout point on the north end, mixed pine and spruce trees, and annual property taxes of $240. This property has been listed for 133 days.
A 22-acre sand and gravel pit is available for $430,000 near Remi Lake in the municipality of Moonbeam. Used for aggregate extraction, the property has annual property taxes of $316 and has been on the market for 200 days.
The most expensive listing in the area is a $2.55 million portfolio of seven properties, including an 11-unit residential building in Iroquois Falls.

Market overview
According to the Timmins, Cochrane and Timiskaming Districts Association of Realtors, the number of homes sold in the region totalled 79 in November 2024. This was down modestly by 1.2 per cent (one sale) from November 2023.
Active residential listings numbered 114 units on the market, the lowest number of new listings added in the month of November in 15 years.
The average price of homes reached $282,477, marking a 13.6 per cent increase from November 2023.
