Want to be part of Annamie Paul’s Green Party of Canada team in the upcoming election?

While a federal election has yet to be called, many expect the current minority government to fall some time in 2021. The Green Party is not waiting, and has put out the call for candidates in all ridings across Canada.

Expressions of interest are being accepted by the Green Party association of Barrie-Springwater-Oro-Medonte (BSOM) to be the local candidate or join the campaign team.

Marty Lancaster was the Green candidate for BSOM in the 2015 and 2019 elections.

“Our support more than doubled in the past election, putting our riding among the strongest 25 Green results in Canada with powerful momentum moving forward,” stated Lancaster.

“With Annamie Paul as our popular and dynamic new federal leader, I think we are set for a breakthrough in 2021,” he added. “I am eager to see who may step forward this time to inspire local voters to an even stronger election result.”

Since winning leadership last fall and immediately stunning observers with a huge surge of support in a byelection in her home riding, Paul has continued to make waves and put the party on the political map with a focus on basic income, affordable housing, universal pharma and dental care, compassion in seeking CERB repayments, and, in general, strengthening Canada’s social safety net in these unprecedented times.

A special focus has been on addressing chronic issues with senior care homes, a crisis in Ontario.

Eric Loewen, CEO of the BSOM electoral district association, is overseeing a candidate nomination process.

Loewen states: “If you have strong Green values and a desire to see them advanced politically, please carefully consider the opportunity to become the Green Party candidate in the upcoming election. The nomination process is open, and we’ll accept expressions of interest until March 31.”

He adds: “There are also many other ways to participate; you can join our board or the election campaign team or become a party member and sign up to volunteer for when the election is announced.”

Loewen can be contacted at [email protected].
