Hikers brave the elements, revel in the great outdoors (5 photos)

Members of the Orillia chapter of the Ganaraska Hiking Club visited three picturesque, challenging sites over the last week despite the frigid temperatures

Frigid cold temperatures didn’t deter members of the Orillia chapter of the Ganaraska Hiking Club from enjoying the great out-of-doors in recent days.

Over the last week, members of the club have been busy, gathering for three hikes in three different places that offered a variety of challenging terrain, some difficult conditions and a beautiful wintry backdrop.

The group's first hike was to the Cooper’s Falls Trail in Muskoka. The second hike occurred at the Walsh Tract of the Simcoe County Forest near the 8th Line of Oro-Medonte and Bass Lake Side Road.

The active group concluded their busy stretch Saturday with a trip to the Bracebridge Resource Management Centre where hikers used the groomed fat bike/snow shoe trails.

All these hikes are within a short driving distance from Orillia. The club welcomes new members. For further information, see www.ganaraska-hiking-trail.org.
