Amanda Black of Kilworthy is the grand-prize winner in the final Soldiers’ 50/50 raffle, taking home a jackpot of $39,672.
Black, who was driving with her husband when she got the call about her grand-prize win, was initially shocked and excited.
“I can’t believe it. My husband wants me to pull over. He wants to get out and scream,” she said.
Black decided to take a chance at playing the raffle to support Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital (OSMH).
“A lot of my family have needed Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital,” said Black. “I was, like, why not? It’s going to a good place.”
The big win came at the perfect time for Black and her husband, Ryan Valin.
“We are just buying a piece of property to build our dream home. That happened just last week,” said Black.
“This will help, definitely,” added Valin.
The Soldiers’ 50/50 raffle has now concluded. Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital Foundation would like to share a sincere thank you to everyone who participated.
There are many ways to support Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital that will make a greater impact for the hospital and our communities, including becoming a monthly donor. Monthly donors provide OSMH with a predictable income to support areas of greatest need, making critical upgrades and advancements when the hospital needs it most. Monthly giving also has the lowest administrative cost, meaning more of your donation will support the health and well-being of our communities.
