CFUW Orillia is pleased to announce that its upcoming October meeting will feature a special guest speaker, Senator Gwen Boniface. The event will take place on Tuesday Oct. 22nd at 7 p.m. at Creative Nomad Studios in Orillia.
Senator Boniface, a distinguished leader in Canadian law enforcement and public service, will deliver a thought-provoking talk on her experiences and insights gained throughout her trailblazing career.
A former Commissioner of the Ontario Provincial Police, she became the first woman to hold this prestigious position, breaking barriers and setting an example for women in leadership roles across Canada. In 2016, she was appointed to the Senate of Canada, where she continues to contribute to national discussions on justice, public safety, and Indigenous rights.
CFUW Orillia President Heather Lewis expressed enthusiasm for Senator Boniface’s visit, saying, “We are honoured to host Senator Boniface, whose distinguished career has been an inspiration to many women across Canada. Her insights on leadership and her advocacy work will be invaluable for our members and the broader community.”
Senator Boniface will talk about her journey as a senator and will share her experiences working on topics that are her personal priorities: Truth and Reconciliation, Intimate Partner Violence, and The Opioid Crisis.
