Lakehead University’s popular and engaging Third Age Learning Lakehead (TALL) lecture series returns to Orillia starting next week, bringing five amazing speakers ready to share their insights on Living a Different Way: The Future of Communities.
The series will be held in person on Wednesdays from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Centre in downtown Orillia.
To kick off the series on Oct. 4, Dr. Todd Randall, dean of science and environmental studies at Lakehead University, will explore ‘The Increasing Importance of Sustainable Communities and Regions.’
On Oct. 11, the New Canadian Centre’s Andy Cragg and Mauricio Iteriano will talk about ‘Building Vibrant and Inclusive Multicultural Communities in Canada,’ while Louise Bardswich and Grethe Jensen will discuss ‘Coliving: Real-life Experiences from Two Communities’ on Oct. 18.
The series will be rounded out by Fred Serrafero’s discussion of ‘Future Generations — What does the future of communities look like for them?’ (Oct. 25) and Clare Riepema’s focus on the local, with ‘Creating Community — the Municipal Challenge’ (Nov. 1).
Linda Rodenburg, interim principal of the Orillia campus, is particularly excited about the topic of this series.
“The TALL community is an incredibly engaged group of lifelong learners, and their commitment to a conversation about the future of communities is incredibly relevant today,” she said. “The conversations coming out of this series will have ripple effects on this community that we all share.”
Come out and join TALL for a series of mornings of inspired thinking and thoughtful conversation. The series is $65 for all five lectures or $16 for a single lecture.
