At the heart of Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital (OSMH) is the strong pillar of support from our community. A recent donation from Al Langman Construction (1998) Inc. served as a reminder of this with their purchase of the fifth and final life-saving Panda Bedded Warmer essential for the safe resuscitation of newborns for the Obstetrics Department at OSMH.

Al Langman Construction (1998) Inc. have been involved in the Orillia community for decades and continue to cultivate an integral role in supporting the areas of greatest need at Soldiers’. Since 2002, they have generously donated more than $229,000 through philanthropic gifts, sponsorships and event participation.

“We’re so grateful to the entire crew at Al Langman Construction (1998) Inc., who have been ongoing loyal supporters of Soldiers’,” said Meaghan Byrnes, Development Officer of Major Gifts at the Soldiers’ Foundation. “This recent gift is another testament of their generous support for our tiniest and most vulnerable patients and their families.”

The Panda Bedded Warmers are an essential, life-saving piece of equipment for the birthing suites at the Hospital. Not only do they offer comfort to newborns after birth, but if an emergency arises, these warmers are equipped with Resuscitation Units that can immediately offer life-saving treatments, monitoring newborns consistently.

“Improving the lives of children and giving newborns the best quality of life is an important cause that we were more than thrilled to support,” said Tim Porter of Al Langman Construction (1998) Inc.

Soldiers’ Foundation began fundraising for Panda Bedded Warming Units in May. In less than a year, through the overwhelming and incredible support of the Soldiers’ community, specifically our donors Al Langman Construction (1998) Inc., funds raised through Charlee’s Run and the Kiwanis Club of Orillia, there will now be a new warmer for each birthing suite in the Hospital.

Together, with our generous community, Soldiers’ maintains a level of commitment to bring the best possible care, close to home.
