On Saturday, April 6, eight local doctors are dancing for a cause and competing for the coveted Mirror Ball Trophy at the first annual Dancing with the Docs fundraiser benefitting Couchiching Jubilee House (CJH).

This brand new signature event, behind held at Hawk Ridge Golf Club, is expected to be a very entertaining evening of dance battles!

The Docs, who have been paired up with skilled dancers from within the community including Lakehead Dance Team and Tapps Performing Arts, have each selected their own dance genre to compete.

Swing, Bollywood, Jitterbug and Salsa are a few of the numbers you’ll be seeing on the floor. All of the numbers are being choreographed and produced by Tapps Performing Arts with sound and lighting by DJ2 The Max.

“We are honoured to have so many community partners invest in this event with us," said CJH development co-ordinator Courtney Willis.

"Tracey King, owner of Tapps Performing Arts, has generously donated time, dancers and rehearsal space to make this event a reality," said Willis, noting the Lakehead dance team has been very involved.

"We also have some wonderful community-minded sponsors jumping on board to be a part of this, including IG Wealth Management and CTV News," said Willis. "We’re just thrilled to bring this exciting event to Orillia.”

The performances will be judged by an elite celebrity panel including Mayor Steve Clarke, MPP Jill Dunlop, and former dean of the Orillia campus of Georgian College, Mary O’Farrell Bowers.

CJH hopes to raise $30,000 through this event.

Tickets are already more than half-way sold out with the early bird deadline approaching on March 6. All early-bird ticket holders will be entered in a draw to win a twosome of golf with carts, generously donated by Hawk Ridge Golf Club.

Tickets include champagne sponsored by McLean & Dickey, hors d'oeuvres and desserts, a wild night of entertainment and silent auction including a special “Gift Bid” section providing bidders the opportunity to bid on items that will be donated back to a CJH client or office need.

“Eight amazing doctors have stepped up in a big way to raise funds for women and children,” says Willis. “Not only are they each dancing, but they have the opportunity to raise pledges for a special award of Highest Funds Raised."
