Canadian Blood Services is asking local residents to contribute to its efforts to double the number of new daily donors at upcoming clinics in Orillia.
“The demand for blood and plasma is rising, but there are not enough donors to keep up with the rising patient need. We need to get Canada’s blood pumping,” the organization said.
“Right now, on average across the country, there are about 230 new donors a day. To meet the growing need for blood and plasma, we need to double the number of new donors.”
The clinics will take place Jan. 6 from 2 to 7 p.m. and Jan. 9 from 1 to 7 p.m. at the Best Western Plus Mariposa Inn and Conference Centre, 400 Memorial Ave.
Appointments are required and can be made at blood.ca.
