NEWS RELEASE
CAMP COUCHICHING
********************
Camp Couchiching has brought back their popular Camp-in-a-Box project from 2020 with a new and interactive look for 2021.
Expanding on the initial program with funding from the Community Foundation of Orillia and Area, the camp is now offering five different boxes to choose from, and each one appeals to kids in completely unique ways.
The themed boxes are full of specialized materials and engaging child-centred activities. With limited recreation options available for so many families right now, Camp-in-a-Box aims to bring camp fun right into the homes and yards of families. They are designed to provide fun, informal educational activities and experiences that children can do at home due to the current closure of schools.
Box themes include: ABC's Box, Garden Growers Box, Explore Nature Box, Good Crafternoon! Box, and the Friendship Fun Box.
Each box contains high-quality, child-led activities that require minimal parent input and each box provides an aspect of nature-based play and education.
The boxes contain laminated, kid-friendly program guides that are easy to follow and understand. Local partnerships have also been added to this enhanced Camp Couchiching program.
Many local businesses have jumped on board to support the initiative with high-quality products and resources too, such as Heartworks Children's Studio, Jack and Maddy's Toy Store, Home Hardware and Alphabecs.
The 2021 Camp Couchiching Camp-in-a-Box will provide children with something new and a welcome break from technology. Feedback so far says that kids have enjoyed multiple days worth of engaging fun, and parents are incredibly pleased with this opportunity for hands-on learning for their kids.
There are a limited number of 50 boxes available and free local drop-off is included. All proceeds support the ongoing work of Camp Couchiching.
