MARIPOSA ARTS THEATRE

Mariposa Arts Theatre’s (MAT) Film Nights is pleased to continue its winter series of movies with All We Imagine As Light on Wednesday, March 19 at Orillia Galaxy Cinemas at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.
All We Imagine As Light is exactly the film that we need as an antidote to these trying and anxious times. It is a cinematic spellbinder that delivers a memorable and compassionate slice of life. It is delicate, sensitive, and affirming. Universally praised by critics, the film won the Grand Prize at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival.
All We Imagine As Light is set in contemporary, working-class Mumbai. The film centres on two roommates who also work together as nurses in a city hospital, and a coworker, a cook at the hospital. The film alights on moments of connection and heartache, hope and disappointment. Writer/director Payal Kapadia captures the bustle of the metropolis and the open-air tranquility of a seaside village with equal radiance. Superbly acted and filmed, All We Imagine As Light is a soulful study of the transformative power of friendship and sisterhood.
Subsequent films in the winter series are Small Things Like These on April 2, and Shepherds on April 16.
All films are shown twice, at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., at Orillia Galaxy Cinemas, with ticket sales at the door one hour before each screening. Tickets cost $10 regular admission, $5 student admission, and can be purchased with cash, credit or debit.
All We Imagine As Light is available with closed captioning. Personal devices are available on request upon arrival to the theatre.
MAT Film Nights is Orillia’s popular local source for outstanding movies selected from the Toronto International Film Festival’s Film Circuit catalogue. It provides the opportunity for audiences to see films from Canada and around the world in the company of fellow enthusiasts.
