NEWS RELEASE
FRIENDS OF THE RAMARA PUBLIC LIBRARY
*************************
A new fundraising event for the community in Ramara is happening at the end of this month.

For the first time ever, the Friends of the Ramara Public Library are hosting a murder mystery fundraising event. With the assistance of Murder Mystery Theatre Company, this event has us stepping back into time — to the 1920s.

We invite you to join us at the Dunn Speakeasy for the wedding of the year. In this ‘married to the mob’ event, you’ll never know who to trust. With the two families merging together, someone is bound to lose power, which means someone else will lose their life. Sophisticated decor and a thrilling murder mystery will combine to bring that era back to life in style.

The Friends of the Ramara Public Library are a group of volunteers who help to promote and support our local library. Proceeds from this fundraiser will support special programs like Zoo to You, children’s performers, summer youth and children reading challenges, author talks, adult crafts and hosting expert guests as these often require additional financial assistance beyond the regular library budget.

Here is where the friends step in to ensure that every patron in the community has an opportunity to make full use of the library beyond just borrowing books and movies.

The event will take place on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024 at the Brechin Legion at 7 p.m. Everyone is encouraged to come dressed in themed outfits fit for a mafia wedding — items like flapper dresses, zoot suits, feather boas and headbands, pinstriped suits and fedoras would complement this event.

A cash bar with proceeds to the Brechin Legion will be on site. There will be prizes throughout the evening, plus a silent auction, mugshot station, and appetizers by Robert Dale Catering — something for everyone as you mingle to solve the case with your fellow detectives.

This is an event you won’t want to miss. Tickets are $65 each, and with less than 30 tickets left, you will want to make sure you secure your spot for a guaranteed fun evening. During open hours at the Ramara Centre branch, staff will be happy to provide you with a ticket(s) in person or by calling 705-325-5776.
