Michelle Russell, left, and her mother, Deborah Blumendrath, are set to open Align Yoga Wellness Studio in west Orillia next weekend.

Align Yoga Wellness Studio will celebrate its grand opening next Saturday.

Owned and operated by Deborah Blumendrath and her daughter, Michelle Russell, the studio offers a variety of warm and hot classes for every experience level.

While Blumendrath is from Port Severn, she says Orillia has an "ideal community vibe" for the new studio to thrive.

"What we have is more than just a yoga studio," she said. "It's a wellness centre. We want to have a place of healing, recuperation and reprieve for our clients, and it is centred around the practices and philosophies of yoga."

Align offers 20 classes a week. It also has a wellness room and services with a reiki practitioner masseuse.

Blumendrath, a holistic nutritionist, says Align is open to other healing modalities that want to come forward and partner with the business.

Bookings at Align are now open with a special $69 offer for 21 days of unlimited yoga so people can try out the different classes. Align is also equipped with an infrared heating system to help with joint pain, tissue mobility, and detoxing.

"I'm a baby boomer. My daughter is in her 30s. We want to make sure that it's multi-generational," said Blumendrath. "It's not just a young person's yoga studio; it's for all people."

She says people are already booking classes ahead of the grand opening.

"Everybody is just so excited. They can't wait for us to be open," she said.

People are taking personal wellness more seriously than ever, she says.

"Because of the pandemic, my own opinion is a lot of us have suffered," she said. "There's a need for a place that people can go and just heal."

Being a business partner with her daughter is a "dream come true."

"I feel like we are so aligned with our core values and we kind of had the same vision," she said. "I think we both have different generational perspectives to make sure that the space is really attractive to everyone."

While there are other yoga and wellness studios in Orillia, Blumendrath says Align won't be competing with anybody.

"We don't believe in competition," she said. "We recognize that there are other beautiful yoga studios in the community. You find your studio, you find your teacher, you find your class, and wherever that might be."

The business is located at 10 Diana Dr., Unit 1.
