A new Shoppers Drug Mart will officially open its doors in Severn Township tomorrow at 8 a.m.
In addition to the two existing Orillia stores on Westmount Drive and Front Street, the Shoppers Simply Pharmacy on Memorial Avenue, and the Wellwise location on Colborne Street West, the new Brodie Drive pharmacy aims to improve local access to primary health care services, officials say.
Andrew Youssef, the associate/owner of the new store that abuts the Orillia Square mall, emphasized the importance of the new location in a written statement to OrilliaMatters on Wednesday afternoon.
“We know there are members in our community without consistent access to primary care, and we’re doing what we can to help,” Youssef said. “The new store and clinic supports existing pharmacy services by allowing pharmacists to manage the basic primary care conditions within their scope and triage patients to higher levels of care for more complex cases.”
A grand opening event is scheduled for Saturday morning at 7:30 a.m., featuring a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Youssef and his team are "eager to welcome the community" to the new store and its services.
“We look forward to serving the health and well-being of the community of Orillia,” he added.
