New snow and old ice proved a challenge for local hikers

Ganaraska Hiking Club members venture through Copeland Forest, a 'local gem'
2109-01-05 ganaraska hike
Members of the Orillia chapter of the Ganaraska Hiking Club took a trek through the Copeland Forest, a local gem of a hiking ground. Conditions were tricky with new snowfall on glare ice - even beside the trail in places! Most of the hikers used “icers”, one used snowshoes, but by going slow we came out unscathed. The weather was perfect; just cold enough to avoid clumping snow. Anyone interested in joining in the fun is welcome - see www.ganaraska-hiking-trail.org for the Ganaraska Newsletter to check out the Orillia, Barrie and Oro-Medonte Clubs for local hikes.
