For almost a decade, Ravi Uppal has been brewing up hopes of bringing a Tim Hortons to his corner of Oro-Medonte Township.
Persistence has paid off.
Uppal, owner of the Esso gas station and corner store at Prices Corner, demolished the old building to make way for a new gas station, variety store and Tim Hortons at the busy intersection of Highway 12 and Horseshoe Valley Road.
“We’ve been trying for the past ten years and finally we were able to come to an agreement. They came and visited the site and they liked it,” he said.
“We wanted to do something nice for the corner and the people who commute past it every day. It’s a nice corner, so we really wanted to bring more to it,” Uppal said.
The new facility will feature a 2,500-square-foot building with 750 square feet belonging to the walk-in Tim Hortons and drive-thru. The rest of the space will be utilized as a convenience store.
While Uppal says the cost of the project is confidential, he can give a potential time frame for when the new Prices Corner variety store and Tim Hortons will be open.
Bbarring any setbacks the site will be open to the public by the middle of January, he told OrilliaMatters.
“So far the weather is on our side and everything is on track and in our favour right now. Once the groundwork is complete the building will go up,” he said.
