The Orillia District Chamber of Commerce will be hosting its annual Business Achievement Awards ceremony on Feb. 26, 2025.
Award nominations are currently open at www.orillia.com/nominate, and the deadline to submit a nomination is Dec. 30, 2024.
There are 14 different award categories, ranging from Employer of the Year to Sustainability, Business Growth, and more. There is an award for Entrepreneur of the Year with a separate category dedicated to young entrepreneurs. Local not-for-profits and charities are also eligible to receive an award, and there is a special category dedicated to these types of organizations.
The awards emphasize the critical role that local businesses and entrepreneurs play in the community, providing an opportunity to reflect on the collective impact of small and large enterprises alike in shaping a thriving and resilient local economy. By celebrating these achievements, the chamber seeks to highlight the dedication, creativity, and hard work of those who drive the region forward.
The event also serves as a platform for bringing together business leaders, community members, and local officials to exchange ideas, foster partnerships, and inspire one another. It’s a moment to honour those who have overcome challenges, embraced innovation, and contributed to the betterment of Orillia and its surrounding areas.
In addition to recognizing excellence, the awards ceremony underscores the chamber’s commitment to supporting local businesses. From promoting sustainability and inclusivity to encouraging the next generation of entrepreneurs, the event reinforces the chamber’s vision for a vibrant and prosperous community.
Anyone can submit a nomination. General eligibility extends to any business, professional, or entrepreneur within Orillia and the surrounding areas, including the City of Orillia, the townships of Oro-Medonte, Severn, and Ramara, and the Chippewas of Rama First Nation. Eligibility criteria for specific categories are detailed on the nomination form. Once nominated, companies or individuals will be invited to complete an entry submission.
Winners will be determined by a panel of judges using the information provided in the entry submission. All nominees will be invited to attend the awards ceremony on Feb. 26, and finalists will be notified in advance. The ceremony will take place at the Orillia Opera House in downtown Orillia.
