North Toronto Auction marks 20 years with in-person sale Saturday

'Our public auctions provide a venue to re-market government assets, recreational vehicles and equipment,' says company rep

North Toronto Auction will mark 20 years serving Innisfil and Simcoe County with a public auction open to in-person bidding on Saturday.

"This will be our 20th anniversary sale," said James Watson of North Toronto Auction. "Prizes, giveaways, promotions, and free food (will be available). Most importantly, we will be selling up to 400 vehicles and industrial equipment.”

Located at 3230 Thomas St., in Innisfil, North Toronto Auction has a preview today until 5 p.m. On Saturday, its doors will open at 8 a.m. and the sale begins at 9 a.m. In celebration of its 20th anniversary, the opening ceremonies will honour the dealers with whom they have been working since Day 1.

North Toronto Auction’s first auction took place over two decades ago.

The business was incorporated in 2002 and was conceived by auction professionals "who saw how the auction industry was changing in Canada."

North Toronto Auction has been growing steadily and has expanded by adding an additional 20 acres, says the company.

"North Toronto Auction brings solid solutions to our fleet and dealer customers by constantly developing new and innovative ways to exceed our customer’s needs," according to its website. "Our public auctions provide a venue to re-market government assets, recreational vehicles and equipment."

Watson said thousands of people from the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and Innisfil visit them every year.

At the time of publication, the forecast calls for rain, but Watson explained that the celebration will go on regardless.

Although guests are welcome to peruse the approximately 250 cars and 130 pieces of industrial equipment available on their preview day on Friday and outside on Saturday, the cars will be driven inside through the lane, where guests will be spared from the elements, and auctioneers will take over.

North Toronto Auction enjoys its relationship with community members, Watson said.

“Last year, we dedicated a public auction to honour the fallen Constables (Devon) Northrup and (Morgan) Russell. We raised funds and donated a portion of the sales to the families via the South Simcoe Police Association through sponsorship, consignment, and community support and public auctions," he added.

Watson explained that North Toronto Auction also hosts an annual food drive called, called Fuel the Food Bank, which provides hundreds of pounds of food to the Innisfil Food Bank every holiday season.

In addition to offering online auctions, North Toronto Auction launched an app, called Auto Gavel, which allows users to list vehicles remotely from their location to be sold at any of our auctions.

"Our plan is to roll this program out nationally," Watson said.

People planning to attend North Toronto Auction's 20th anniversary celebration on Saturday can register here for the family-friendly event, which ensures a free breakfast or lunch, and entry to giveaways and early-bird prizes.

"Everyone is welcome to attend. Parking is free, admission is free, (and) registration is free. The excitement is priceless," Watson said.
