Local residents may spot Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes appearing this week around Orillia and area at local pick-up points such as Zehrs, Home Hardware, the Barnfield Point Recreation Centre and Dollar Tree Stores.
All the necessary information can be found inside the box.
“It’s exciting to have a project that truly makes a difference to hurting children’s lives around the world, and you can be that difference,” said Carolyn Jones, who spearheads the project locally.
That is especially this year when “catastrophic things” are happening in so many countries.
Samaritan's Purse and Operation Christmas Child teams are at the centre of it all, reaching families and children with hope, said Jones.
Jones urges people to create a meaningful fall tradition or project, with your family and friends this Thanksgiving, or, you can plan a packing party in your neighbourhood.
“Join us in sharing hope and a smile with a needy child in a war-torn area or one living in the midst of natural disaster,” urged Jones.
Operation Christmas Child sent 11 million shoe boxes full of school supplies, hygiene items and simple gifts like skipping ropes and balls to over 100 countries last year!
